تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ (1)
DESTROYED WILL BE the hands of Abu Lahab, and he himself will perish. Que périssent les deux mains d'Abû-Lahab et que lui-même périsse.
مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ (2)
Of no avail shall be his wealth, nor what he has acquired. Sa fortune ne lui sert à rien, ni ce qu'il a acquis.
سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ (3)
He will be roasted in the fire, Il sera brûlé dans un Feu plein de flammes,
وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ (4)
And his wife, the portress of fire wood, de même sa femme, la porteuse de bois,
فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِنْ مَسَدٍ (5)
Will have a strap of fibre rope around her neck. à son cou, une corde de fibres.
