تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ الْفُرْقَانَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ لِيَكُونَ لِلْعَالَمِينَ نَذِيرًا (1)
BLESSED IS HE who revealed the Criterion (of right and wrong) to His votary that it may be a warning for the world, -- Qu'on exalte la Bénédiction de Celui qui a fait descendre le Livre de Discernement sur Son serviteur, afin qu'il soit un avertisseur à l'univers.
الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَقَدَّرَهُ تَقْدِيرًا (2)
He to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, who has neither begotten a son nor has He a partner in His kingdom, (who) created everything and determined its exact measure. Celui à qui appartient la royauté des cieux et de la terre, qui ne S'est point attribué d'enfant, qui n'a point d'associé en Sa royauté et qui a créé toute chose en lui donnant ses justes proportions.
وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِهِ آلِهَةً لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْئًا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ وَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا وَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ مَوْتًا وَلَا حَيَاةً وَلَا نُشُورًا (3)
Yet they choose apart from Him gods who have not created any thing and have themselves been created, who possess no power over their loss or gain, or their death or life or being raised to life again. Mais ils ont adopté en dehors de Lui des divinités qui, étant elles-mêmes créées, ne créent rien, et qui ne possèdent la faculté de faire ni le mal ni le bien pour elles-mêmes, et qui ne sont maîtresses ni de la mort, ni de la vie, ni de la résurrection.
وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا إِفْكٌ افْتَرَاهُ وَأَعَانَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ آخَرُونَ ۖ فَقَدْ جَاءُوا ظُلْمًا وَزُورًا (4)
Yet the unbelievers say: "This is nothing but a lie he has concocted in which others have aided him." They have come down to mischief and lies. Les mécréants disent: «Tout ceci n'est qu'un mensonge qu'il (Muhammad) a inventé, et où d'autres gens l'ont aidé». Or, ils commettent là une injustice et un mensonge.
وَقَالُوا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ اكْتَتَبَهَا فَهِيَ تُمْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا (5)
And they say: "These are fables of antiquity he has invented, which are dictated to him morning and evening." Et ils disent: «Ce sont des contes d'anciens qu'il se fait écrire! On les lui dicte matin et soir!»
قُلْ أَنْزَلَهُ الَّذِي يَعْلَمُ السِّرَّ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا (6)
Say: "He who knows the secrets of the heavens and the earth has revealed it to me; and He is surely forgiving and kind." Dis: «L'a fait descendre Celui qui connaît les secrets dans les cieux et la terre. Et Il est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux.
وَقَالُوا مَالِ هَٰذَا الرَّسُولِ يَأْكُلُ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشِي فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ ۙ لَوْلَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ فَيَكُونَ مَعَهُ نَذِيرًا (7)
But they say: "What sort of prophet is this who eats food and walks the market places? Why was no angel sent to him to act as admonisher with him? Et ils disent: «Qu'est-ce donc que ce Messager qui mange de la nourriture et circule dans les marchés? Que n'a-t-on fait descendre vers lui un Ange qui eût été avertisseur en sa compagnie?
أَوْ يُلْقَىٰ إِلَيْهِ كَنْزٌ أَوْ تَكُونُ لَهُ جَنَّةٌ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا ۚ وَقَالَ الظَّالِمُونَ إِنْ تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مَسْحُورًا (8)
Or a treasure should have been given to him, or he should have had an orchard from which he could eat." And these wicked people say: "You only follow a man ensorcelled." Ou que ne lui a-t-on lancé un trésor? Ou que n'a-t-il un jardin à lui, dont il pourrait manger (les fruits)?» Les injustes disent: «Vous ne suivez qu'un homme ensorcelé».
انْظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا لَكَ الْأَمْثَالَ فَضَلُّوا فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًا (9)
Just see what comparisons they bring up for you! They are lost and cannot find the way. Vois à quoi ils te comparent! Ils se sont égarés. Ils ne pourront trouver aucun chemin.
تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي إِنْ شَاءَ جَعَلَ لَكَ خَيْرًا مِنْ ذَٰلِكَ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكَ قُصُورًا (10)
Blessed be He who, if He pleased, could give you better than that, -- gardens with rivers flowing by; and make palaces for you. Béni soit Celui qui, s'Il le veut, t'accordera bien mieux que cela: des Jardins sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux; et Il t'assignera des châteaux.
بَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِالسَّاعَةِ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِمَنْ كَذَّبَ بِالسَّاعَةِ سَعِيرًا (11)
Yet they reject the Hour as untrue. We have prepared a Fire for those who deny the Resurrection. Mais ils ont plutôt qualifié l'Heure de mensonge. Nous avons cependant préparé, pour quiconque qualifie l'Heure de mensonge, une Flamme brûlante.
إِذَا رَأَتْهُمْ مِنْ مَكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ سَمِعُوا لَهَا تَغَيُّظًا وَزَفِيرًا (12)
When (Hell) appears to them from a distance they will hear it raging and roaring. Lorsque de loin elle les voit, ils entendront sa fureur et ses pétillements.
وَإِذَا أُلْقُوا مِنْهَا مَكَانًا ضَيِّقًا مُقَرَّنِينَ دَعَوْا هُنَالِكَ ثُبُورًا (13)
And when they are cast within a narrow space of it chained together, they would plead for death. Et quand on les y aura jetés, dans un étroit réduit, les mains liées derrière le cou, ils souhaiteront alors leur destruction complète.
لَا تَدْعُوا الْيَوْمَ ثُبُورًا وَاحِدًا وَادْعُوا ثُبُورًا كَثِيرًا (14)
"Do not ask for one death but many deaths on this day." «Aujourd'hui, ne souhaitez pas la destruction une seule fois, mais souhaitez-en plusieurs.
قُلْ أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ أَمْ جَنَّةُ الْخُلْدِ الَّتِي وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ ۚ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَزَاءً وَمَصِيرًا (15)
Ask them: "Is this better or a garden for everlasting abode which has been promised the pious and devout? It would be their guerdon and their destination. Dis: «Est-ce mieux ceci? ou bien le Paradis éternel qui a été promis aux pieux, comme récompense et destination dernière?
لَهُمْ فِيهَا مَا يَشَاءُونَ خَالِدِينَ ۚ كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ وَعْدًا مَسْئُولًا (16)
There will they have whatever they wish, and there abide for ever." This is a promise incumbent on your Lord which will certainly be fulfilled. Ils auront là tout ce qu'ils désireront et une demeure éternelle. C'est une promesse incombant à ton Seigneur.
وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ فَيَقُولُ أَأَنْتُمْ أَضْلَلْتُمْ عِبَادِي هَٰؤُلَاءِ أَمْ هُمْ ضَلُّوا السَّبِيلَ (17)
The day He will gather them together along with those they worshipped other than God, He will ask them: "Did you lure these creatures of Mine away, or did they themselves go astray?" Et le jour où Il les rassemblera, eux et ceux qu'ils adoraient en dehors d'Allah, Il dira: «Est-ce vous qui avez égaré Mes serviteurs que voici, ou ont-ils eux-mêmes perdu le sentier?»
قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ مَا كَانَ يَنْبَغِي لَنَا أَنْ نَتَّخِذَ مِنْ دُونِكَ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ وَلَٰكِنْ مَتَّعْتَهُمْ وَآبَاءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَسُوا الذِّكْرَ وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا بُورًا (18)
They will answer: "Glory to You. It was not worthy of us to seek any protector other than You. But You allowed them and their fathers a life of ease until they turned oblivious of the Reminder. They were a people impenitent. Ils diront: «Gloire à Toi! Il ne nous convenait nullement de prendre en dehors de Toi des patrons protecteurs mais Tu les as comblés de jouissance ainsi que leurs ancêtres au point qu'ils en ont oublié le livre du rappel [le Coran]. Et ils ont été des gens perdus».
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوكُمْ بِمَا تَقُولُونَ فَمَا تَسْتَطِيعُونَ صَرْفًا وَلَا نَصْرًا ۚ وَمَنْ يَظْلِمْ مِنْكُمْ نُذِقْهُ عَذَابًا كَبِيرًا (19)
(The idolaters will be told): "Your gods have refuted your assertion. You can neither avert (your doom) nor receive any help. We shall make the wicked among you taste of severe punishment." «Ils vous ont démentis en ce que vous dites. Il n'y aura pour vous ni échappatoire ni secours (possible). Et quiconque des vôtres est injuste, Nous lui ferons goûter un grand châtiment».
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّا إِنَّهُمْ لَيَأْكُلُونَ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشُونَ فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ ۗ وَجَعَلْنَا بَعْضَكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ فِتْنَةً أَتَصْبِرُونَ ۗ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ بَصِيرًا (20)
We never sent before you apostles who did not eat food and walk the market places. We make some of you the means of trying the others. So will you persevere? Your Lord is always watching. Et Nous n'avons envoyé avant toi que des messagers qui mangeaient de la nourriture et circulaient dans les marchés. Et Nous avons fait de certains d'entre vous une épreuve pour les autres -endurerez-vous avec constance? - Et ton Seigneur demeure Clairvoyant.
وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا لَوْلَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَوْ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَا ۗ لَقَدِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَعَتَوْا عُتُوًّا كَبِيرًا (21)
Those who do not hope to meet Us say: "Why are no angels sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord?" They are full of self-conceit and behave with intense arrogance. Et ceux qui n'espèrent pas Nous rencontrer disent: «Si seulement on avait fait descendre sur nous des Anges ou si nous pouvions voir notre Seigneur!» En effet, ils se sont enflés d'orgueil en eux-mêmes, et ont dépassé les limites de l'arrogance.
يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَا بُشْرَىٰ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُجْرِمِينَ وَيَقُولُونَ حِجْرًا مَحْجُورًا (22)
The day they see the angels there will be no happy tidings for the sinners; and they will say: "There is an insurmountable barrier!" Le jour où ils verront les Anges, ce ne sera pas une bonne nouvelle, ce jour-là, pour les injustes, ils (les Anges) diront: «Barrage totalement défendu»!
وَقَدِمْنَا إِلَىٰ مَا عَمِلُوا مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ هَبَاءً مَنْثُورًا (23)
We shall turn to their deeds and scatter them like particles of dust. Nous avons considéré l'œuvre qu'ils ont accomplie et Nous l'avons réduite en poussière éparpillée.
أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَيْرٌ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَأَحْسَنُ مَقِيلًا (24)
The inmates of Paradise will have a better abode that day, and a better resting place. Les gens du Paradis seront, ce jour-là, en meilleure demeure et au plus beau lieu de repos.
وَيَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ السَّمَاءُ بِالْغَمَامِ وَنُزِّلَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ تَنْزِيلًا (25)
The day the heavens splits asunder with a dazzling white cloud gathering and the angels descend in a continuous stream, Et le jour où le ciel sera fendu par les nuages et qu'on fera descendre des Anges,
الْمُلْكُ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْحَقُّ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ ۚ وَكَانَ يَوْمًا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ عَسِيرًا (26)
The real sovereignty will belong to Ar-Rahman. How grievous will be the day for the infidels! ce jour-là, la vraie royauté appartient au Tout Miséricordieux, et ce sera un Jour difficile aux infidèles.
وَيَوْمَ يَعَضُّ الظَّالِمُ عَلَىٰ يَدَيْهِ يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي اتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ الرَّسُولِ سَبِيلًا (27)
The sinner will then bite his hand and say: "Would that I had taken the road with the Prophet. Le jour où l'injuste se mordra les deux mains et dira: «[Hélas pour moi!] Si seulement j'avais suivi chemin avec le Messager!...
يَا وَيْلَتَىٰ لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أَتَّخِذْ فُلَانًا خَلِيلًا (28)
Woe alas, ah would I had not taken so-and-so as friend! Malheur à moi! Hélas! Si seulement je n'avais pas pris «un tel» pour ami!...
لَقَدْ أَضَلَّنِي عَنِ الذِّكْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ جَاءَنِي ۗ وَكَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ لِلْإِنْسَانِ خَذُولًا (29)
He led me astray from the Warning after it had come to me. Satan always betrays man. Il m'a, en effet, égaré loin du rappel [le Coran], après qu'il me soit parvenu». Et le Diable déserte l'homme (après l'avoir tenté).
وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَهْجُورًا (30)
The prophet will say: "O my Lord, my people had fettered the Qur'an." Et le Messager dit: «Seigneur, mon peuple a vraiment pris ce Coran pour une chose délaissée!»
وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوًّا مِنَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ هَادِيًا وَنَصِيرًا (31)
Thus do We keep opponents among the sinners for every apostle; yet your Lord is sufficient as a guide and helper. C'est ainsi que Nous fîmes à chaque prophète un ennemi parmi les criminels. Mais ton Seigneur suffit comme guide et comme soutien.
وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ جُمْلَةً وَاحِدَةً ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ۖ وَرَتَّلْنَاهُ تَرْتِيلًا (32)
The unbelievers say: "Why was the whole Qur'an not sent down all at once to him?" It was sent thus that We may keep your heart resolute. So We enunciated it by steps and distinctly. Et ceux qui ne croient pas disent: «Pourquoi n'a-t-on pas fait descendre sur lui le Coran en une seule fois?» Nous l'avons révélé ainsi pour raffermir ton cœur. Et Nous l'avons récité soigneusement.
وَلَا يَأْتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ إِلَّا جِئْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَأَحْسَنَ تَفْسِيرًا (33)
There is not an example they advance to which We do not give you a right answer and a better explanation. Ils ne t'apporteront aucune parabole, sans que Nous ne t'apportions la vérité avec la meilleure interprétation.
الَّذِينَ يُحْشَرُونَ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ أُولَٰئِكَ شَرٌّ مَكَانًا وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا (34)
Those who will be pushed faces forward into Hell will be in a worse position, farther away from the path. Ceux qui seront traînés [ensemble] sur leurs visages vers l'Enfer, ceux-là seront dans la pire des situations et les plus égarés hors du chemin droit.
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَجَعَلْنَا مَعَهُ أَخَاهُ هَارُونَ وَزِيرًا (35)
We gave Moses the Book, and made his brother Aaron his minister, En effet, Nous avons apporté à Moïse le Livre et lui avons assigné son frère Aaron comme assistant.
فَقُلْنَا اذْهَبَا إِلَى الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا فَدَمَّرْنَاهُمْ تَدْمِيرًا (36)
Then We told them: "Go to the people who have rejected Our signs." Then We annihilated them completely. Puis Nous avons dit: «Allez tous deux vers les gens qui ont traité de mensonge Nos preuves». Nous les avons ensuite détruits complètement.
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ لَمَّا كَذَّبُوا الرُّسُلَ أَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ لِلنَّاسِ آيَةً ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا (37)
We had drowned the people of Noah when they had accused the apostles of lies, and turned them into an example for men. We have prepared a painful punishment for the wicked. Et le peuple de Noé, quand ils eurent démenti les messagers, Nous les noyâmes et en fîmes pour les gens un signe d'avertissement. Et Nous avons préparé pour les injustes un châtiment douloureux.
وَعَادًا وَثَمُودَ وَأَصْحَابَ الرَّسِّ وَقُرُونًا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ كَثِيرًا (38)
(As for) 'Ad, Thamud and the people of ar-Rass, and many generations in between them, Et les 'Aad, les Thamûd, les gens d'Ar-Rass et de nombreuses générations intermédiaires!
وَكُلًّا ضَرَبْنَا لَهُ الْأَمْثَالَ ۖ وَكُلًّا تَبَّرْنَا تَتْبِيرًا (39)
We administered warnings to each of them, and then destroyed them completely. A tous, cependant, Nous avions fait des paraboles et Nous les avions tous anéantis d'une façon brutale.
وَلَقَدْ أَتَوْا عَلَى الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي أُمْطِرَتْ مَطَرَ السَّوْءِ ۚ أَفَلَمْ يَكُونُوا يَرَوْنَهَا ۚ بَلْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ نُشُورًا (40)
They must have surely passed by the town on which We had rained the terrible rain of ruin. How could they not have seen it? Still they do not dread the Resurrection. Ils sont passés par la cité sur laquelle est tombée une pluie de malheurs. Ne la voient-ils donc pas? Mais ils n'espèrent pas de résurrection!
وَإِذَا رَأَوْكَ إِنْ يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَٰذَا الَّذِي بَعَثَ اللَّهُ رَسُولًا (41)
When they see you they take you only in jest: "Is this the one whom God has sent as messenger? Et quand ils te voient, ils ne te prennent qu'en raillerie: «Est-ce là celui qu'Allah a envoyé comme Messager?
إِنْ كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا لَوْلَا أَنْ صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ مَنْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا (42)
He would have surely turned us away from our gods if we had not adhered to them." They will know soon who is farther away from the path when they see the punishment! Peu s'en est fallu qu'il ne nous égare de nos divinités, si ce n'était notre attachement patient à elles!». Cependant, ils sauront quand ils verront le châtiment, qui est le plus égaré en son chemin.
أَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُ هَوَاهُ أَفَأَنْتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيلًا (43)
Have you considered him who takes his own lust for his god? Can you stand a surety for him? Ne vois-tu pas celui qui a fait de sa passion sa divinité? Est-ce à toi d'être un garant pour lui?
أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ ۚ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَالْأَنْعَامِ ۖ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا (44)
Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are no better than cattle; in fact they are farther astray from the path. Ou bien penses-tu que la plupart d'entre eux entendent ou comprennent? Ils ne sont en vérité comparables qu'à des bestiaux. Ou plutôt, ils sont plus égarés encore du sentier.
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَيْفَ مَدَّ الظِّلَّ وَلَوْ شَاءَ لَجَعَلَهُ سَاكِنًا ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا الشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيلًا (45)
Have you not seen how your Lord lengthens out the shadow? He could have kept it motionless if He liked. Yet We make the sun its pilot to show the way. N'as-tu pas vu comment ton Seigneur étend l'ombre? S'Il avait voulu, certes, Il l'aurait faite immobile. Puis Nous lui fîmes du soleil son indice,
ثُمَّ قَبَضْنَاهُ إِلَيْنَا قَبْضًا يَسِيرًا (46)
Then We draw it back to Us, withdrawing it little by little. puis Nous la saisissons [pour la ramener] vers Nous avec facilité.
وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا وَالنَّوْمَ سُبَاتًا وَجَعَلَ النَّهَارَ نُشُورًا (47)
It is He who made the night a covering for you; and made sleep for rest, the day for rising. Et c'est Lui qui vous fit de la nuit un vêtement, du sommeil un repos et qui fit du jour un retour à la vie active.
وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ الرِّيَاحَ بُشْرًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ وَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً طَهُورًا (48)
It is He who sends the winds with auspicious news in advance of His benevolence; and We send pure water down from the sky Et c'est Lui qui envoya les vents comme une annonce précédant Sa miséricorde. Nous fîmes descendre du ciel une eau pure et purifiante,
لِنُحْيِيَ بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَيْتًا وَنُسْقِيَهُ مِمَّا خَلَقْنَا أَنْعَامًا وَأَنَاسِيَّ كَثِيرًا (49)
To quicken a region that was dead, and to give it as drink to animals We have created and to men in plenty. pour faire revivre par elle une contrée morte, et donner à boire aux multiples bestiaux et hommes que Nous avons créés.
وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَاهُ بَيْنَهُمْ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا فَأَبَىٰ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًا (50)
And We distribute it among them in various ways that they may ponder and reflect; yet most men disdain everything but denial and thanklessness. Nous l'avions répartie entre eux afin qu'ils se rappellent (de Nous). Mais la plupart des gens se refusent à tout sauf à être ingrats.
وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَبَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ قَرْيَةٍ نَذِيرًا (51)
Had We pleased We could have raised a warner in every town. Or, si Nous avions voulu, Nous aurions certes envoyé dans chaque cité un avertisseur.
فَلَا تُطِعِ الْكَافِرِينَ وَجَاهِدْهُمْ بِهِ جِهَادًا كَبِيرًا (52)
So do not listen to unbelievers, and strive against them with greater effort. N'obéis donc pas aux infidèles; et avec ceci (le Coran), lutte contre eux vigoureusement.
وَهُوَ الَّذِي مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ هَٰذَا عَذْبٌ فُرَاتٌ وَهَٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخًا وَحِجْرًا مَحْجُورًا (53)
It is He who made two bodies of water flow side by side, one fresh (and) sweet, the other brine (and) bitter, and has placed an interstice, a barrier between them. Et c'est Lui qui donne libre cours aux deux mers: l'une douce, rafraîchissante, l'autre salée, amère. Et Il assigne entre les deux une zone intermédiaire et un barrage infranchissable.
وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ بَشَرًا فَجَعَلَهُ نَسَبًا وَصِهْرًا ۗ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ قَدِيرًا (54)
It is He who created man from water, then gave him consanguinity and affinity. Your Lord is omnipotent. Et c'est Lui qui de l'eau a créé une espèce humaine qu'Il unit par les liens de la parenté et de l'alliance. Et ton Seigneur demeure Omnipotent.
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنْفَعُهُمْ وَلَا يَضُرُّهُمْ ۗ وَكَانَ الْكَافِرُ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِ ظَهِيرًا (55)
And yet they worship besides God what cannot bring them gain or do them harm. The unbeliever has always been an auxiliary against his Lord. Mais ils adorent en dehors d'Allah, ce qui ne leur profite point, ni ne leur nuit! Et l'infidèle sera toujours l'allié des ennemis de son Seigneur!
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا (56)
Yet We have not sent you but to give good tidings and to warn. Or, Nous ne t'avons envoyé que comme annonciateur et avertisseur.
قُلْ مَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِلَّا مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلًا (57)
Tell them: "I do not ask any recompense of you for this other than (urging) whoever likes may take the way to his Lord." Dis: «Je ne vous en demande aucun salaire (pour moi même). Toutefois, celui qui veut suivre un chemin conduisant vers son Seigneur [est libre de dépenser dans la voie d'Allah]».
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا (58)
Have trust in God the Living, who will never die, and sing His hallelujas; for He is well aware of the sins of His creatures. Et place ta confiance en Le Vivant qui ne meurt jamais. Et par Sa louange, glorifie-Le. Il suffit comme Parfait Connaisseur des péchés de Ses serviteurs.
الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ ۚ الرَّحْمَٰنُ فَاسْأَلْ بِهِ خَبِيرًا (59)
He created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them in six spans then assumed His authority. He is the benevolent: Ask those who are well-informed. C'est Lui qui, en six jours, a créé les cieux, la terre et tout ce qui existe entre eux, et le Tout Miséricordieux S'est établi «Istawâ» ensuite sur le Trône. Interroge donc qui est bien informé de Lui.
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اسْجُدُوا لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ قَالُوا وَمَا الرَّحْمَٰنُ أَنَسْجُدُ لِمَا تَأْمُرُنَا وَزَادَهُمْ نُفُورًا ۩ (60)
When you say to them: "Bow before Ar-Rahman," they say: "What is Ar-Rahman? Should we adore whoever you ask us to?" And their aversion increases further. Et quand on leur dit: «Prosternez-vous devant le Tout Miséricordieux», ils disent: «Qu'est-ce donc que le Tout Miséricordieux? Allons-nous nous prosterner devant ce que tu nous commandes?» - Et cela accroît leur répulsion.
تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي السَّمَاءِ بُرُوجًا وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِرَاجًا وَقَمَرًا مُنِيرًا (61)
Blessed is He who placed in the heavens constellations of stars, and placed a burning lamp in it and the luminous moon. Que soit béni Celui qui a placé au ciel des constellations et y a placé un luminaire (le soleil) et aussi une lune éclairante!
وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَذَّكَّرَ أَوْ أَرَادَ شُكُورًا (62)
It is He who made the night and day an alternation for him who cares to reflect and be grateful. Et c'est Lui qui a assigné une alternance à la nuit et au jour pour quiconque veut y réfléchir ou montrer sa reconnaissance.
وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ هَوْنًا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ الْجَاهِلُونَ قَالُوا سَلَامًا (63)
Devotees of Ar-Rahman are those who walk with humility on the earth, and when they are addressed by the ignorant, say: 'Peace;" Les serviteurs du Tout Miséricordieux sont ceux qui marchent humblement sur terre, qui, lorsque les ignorants s'adressent à eux, disent: «Paix»,
وَالَّذِينَ يَبِيتُونَ لِرَبِّهِمْ سُجَّدًا وَقِيَامًا (64)
And those who spend their nights bowed and standing before their Lord; qui passent les nuits prosternés et debout devant leur Seigneur;
وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا (65)
Who say: "O our Lord, avert from us the torment of Hell: Its punishment is surely continuous. qui disent: «Seigneur, écarte de nous le châtiment de l'Enfer». - car son châtiment est permanent.
إِنَّهَا سَاءَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَمُقَامًا (66)
It is indeed an evil halt and an evil abode;" Quels mauvais gîte et lieu de séjour!
وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا أَنْفَقُوا لَمْ يُسْرِفُوا وَلَمْ يَقْتُرُوا وَكَانَ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ قَوَامًا (67)
Who are neither prodigal nor miserly in their spending but follow a middle path; Qui, lorsqu'ils dépensent, ne sont ni prodigues ni avares mais se tiennent au juste milieu.
وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ ۚ وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ يَلْقَ أَثَامًا (68)
Who do not invoke any god apart from God, who do not take a life which God has forbidden except for a cause that is just, and do not fornicate -- and any one who does so will be punished for the crime, Qui n'invoquent pas d'autre dieu avec Allah et ne tuent pas la vie qu'Allah a rendue sacrée, sauf à bon droit; qui ne commettent pas de fornication - car quiconque fait cela encourra une punition
يُضَاعَفْ لَهُ الْعَذَابُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَيَخْلُدْ فِيهِ مُهَانًا (69)
Whose punishment will be doubled on the Day of Judgement, and he will live for ever in disgrace, et le châtiment lui sera doublé, au Jour de la Résurrection, et il y demeurera éternellement couvert d'ignominie;
إِلَّا مَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا فَأُولَٰئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ حَسَنَاتٍ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا (70)
Except those who repent and come to believe and do the right, for whom God will turn evil into goodness, for God is forgiving and kind. sauf celui qui se repent, croit et accomplit une bonne œuvre; ceux-là Allah changera leurs mauvaises actions en bonnes, et Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux;
وَمَنْ تَابَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَإِنَّهُ يَتُوبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَتَابًا (71)
Whosoever repents and does the right, will have turned back to God by way of repentance; et quiconque se repent et accomplit une bonne œuvre c'est vers Allah qu'aboutira son retour.
وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِاللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا كِرَامًا (72)
And those who do not give false evidence, and if they come across unbecoming talk ignore it and pass by in a sedate way; Ceux qui ne donnent pas de faux témoignages; et qui, lorsqu'ils passent auprès d'une frivolité, s'en écartent noblement;
وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَمْ يَخِرُّوا عَلَيْهَا صُمًّا وَعُمْيَانًا (73)
Who, when reminded of their Lord's revelations, do not fall for them like the deaf and blind; qui lorsque les versets de leur Seigneur leur sont rappelés, ne deviennent ni sourds ni aveugles;
وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا (74)
And those who say: "O Lord, give us comfort in our spouses and children, and make us paragons of those who follow the straight path." et qui disent: «Seigneur, donne-nous, en nos épouses et nos descendants, la joie des yeux, et fais de nous un guide pour les pieux».
أُولَٰئِكَ يُجْزَوْنَ الْغُرْفَةَ بِمَا صَبَرُوا وَيُلَقَّوْنَ فِيهَا تَحِيَّةً وَسَلَامًا (75)
They will be rewarded for their perseverance with lofty mansions in empyrean where they will be received with greetings of peace and salutations, Ceux-là auront pour récompense un lieu élevé [du Paradis] à cause de leur endurance, et ils y seront accueillis avec le salut et la paix,
خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ حَسُنَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَمُقَامًا (76)
And abide there for ever: What an excellent destination and abode! pour y demeurer éternellement. Quel beau gîte et lieu de séjour!
قُلْ مَا يَعْبَأُ بِكُمْ رَبِّي لَوْلَا دُعَاؤُكُمْ ۖ فَقَدْ كَذَّبْتُمْ فَسَوْفَ يَكُونُ لِزَامًا (77)
Say: "My Lord is not concerned on your account if you do not pray to Him. You have surely done with denying; soon will come the inevitable judgement. Dis: «Mon Seigneur ne se souciera pas de vous sans votre prière; mais vous avez, démenti (le Prophète). Votre [châtiment] sera inévitable et permanent.
